My name is Rock Dudek, and I am a professional skating instructor right here in New York City. I've been skating for a long time--in fact, I started my skating career when I was four years old. In high school I was the captain of a two-time Illinois State Championship team, and from there I went on to be a part of a Division I hockey program at Fairfield University in Connecticut.
After I graduated from Fairfield, I moved to New York City, and for the past five winters I have been coaching at Wollman Ice Skating Rink in Central Park. I teach basic figure skating skills and coach the youth hockey teams at Wollman, which boasts the largest basic skills program in the country. For the past ten summers I have been a hockey counselor at Camp Deerhorn, an internationally renowned summer camp in Wisconsin. I am also the director of the Deerhorn ice hockey program. At Camp Deerhorn I have taught every activity from water skiing to horse back riding and everything in-between. I have also earned my certification in First Aid and CPR at Deerhorn.
For the past 3 years I have also been the head coach of the St. David's Kindergarten hockey program which has boasted record enrollment numbers the past 3 seasons. This year I will also be the head coach of the St. David's 1st grade hockey program.
I have received several awards for my coaching, including Wollman Ice Rink's "Coach of the Year" Award. I have been involved in skating, hockey, and rollerblading as well as many other sports my whole life and have coached at many levels. Most importantly, I love sharing these sports with kids. Over the years I have coached many different sports from: horse back riding, baseball, archery, rifelry, lacrosse, basketball, bicycle riding, water skiing, football, as well as many others. I have also run day camps in the Hamptons, Connecticut, Chicago and Wisconsin. These camps can be created to fit the needs and interests of the children involved. They can focus on a variety of sports, crafts, excursions, or anything else you can think of.
